Dolcis Golden Dancing Shoes

Copy of Golden dancing shoes[867]_edited.jpg

‘These gold shoes belonged to my mum,’ says stylist Karen James-Welton. ‘Dad worked for the shoe company Dolcis, in London, and had a pair of gold shoes made for mum. These were made especially for her to do ballroom dancing in, one of her favourite pastimes. She wore and loved these shoes for years. I recall that whenever she got dressed to go out she would put on her make up and a fabulous tulle dress. Then the precious gold dancing shoes would be put on last. When she stopped doing ballroom, she still wore the shoes to go out in the evening. Now I have them and I wear them to go dancing myself. They mean a lot to me.’
