My Story

Jane let go of a successful career in the newspaper industry to start PCF and since
has been awarded an MBE for her work in the Philippines, and the Woman of the Year Award by the Women of Year Foundation, is a Paul Harris Fellow and has been featured several times on national television and in international press. Jane has been instrumental in the building of the world’s first building made from shipping containers and has developed a brand of eco clothing, handbags from the ring pulls from canned drinks and more recently footwear from aeroplane and truck tyres.
PCF runs highly effective poverty reduction programs for disenfranchised communities in some of the worst slums in Manila through a holistic approach, providing integrated services in education, health and nutrition, social welfare and livelihood and skills training.
PCF’s provides scholarships and support for children in education. Many of whom were child workers and are supported through mentoring and tutorial care and a range of out of school activities and preparation for university and employment to give the children every chance of success.
PCF works together to look after the whole family and has established successful livelihood programs for the children’s parents through the acquisition of new skills through upcycling waste materials, and vocational courses.
More recently PCF has started two vegetable farms and an egg production farm providing employment and access to food in response to the effects of the pandemic.
PCFs health services have been extended to include access to health in the rural areas while the government clinics remain closed and pre- and post-natal services. A small community feeding program for 100 malnourished children and senior citizens started in 2020 although with more funding the charity has the infrastructure to feed up to 1,000 people a day.
In addition, a highly successful community loan system now provides business start-ups loans for families in the community to help get them back on their feet and earning their own income.
