Could we also add alternatives to the final post? Instead of buying down duvets and pillows maybe find more eco alternatives? I don't know much about this company but they have duvets/pillows made from PET bottles! Would be interesting to contact them to see is they offer a service for the duvets when they are replaced too? In the meanwhile: All I can see on what they could be used for right now are: Animal charities Homeless charities Craft projects (Make new pillows for example) Put out for birds for nest building. Could we make these together with something like the men shed? Scrap wood and chicken wire to make bird nesting material boxes to sell?

I have found this project at Bath University Waste materials to be tested as viable options for insulating buildings (bath.ac.uk) but not sure how soon they would turn this into something practical and widely spread. Might be worth keeping an eye on though! Shocking to see that 61,900 tonnes of duvets and pillows enter the waste system in the UK each year!!!!
